The one to send first
Quick one for everyone: if any message asks you for an OTP, it is a scam. Banks, couriers, the police, nobody genuine ever asks for one. A real message TELLS you a code and says do not share it. If someone asks, hang up or delete it.
For anyone who banks on their phone
If you get a message saying your KYC expires today or your account will be blocked, do not tap the link. Open the bank app you already have and look there. If something is really wrong it will be in the app. If it is not in the app, the message was lying.
If someone has already lost money
If money has gone from your account, call 1930 today. It is the free national cyber fraud helpline. Also call your bank on the number printed on your card, not one from any message. Reporting the same day is what makes it possible to stop it.
For people who are not online
The people most often targeted are the least likely to visit a website about it. A printed card on a fridge or a shop counter reaches them.
